  • CAMEO: Conservation and Art Material Encyclopedia Online
    CAMEO is a searchable encyclopedia developed at the Conservation and Collections Management Department at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. It contains chemical, physical, visual, and analytical information on over 10,000 historic and contemporary materials used in the conservation, preservation, and production of artistic, architectural, and archaeological materials.
  • Artists' Materials Center
    Located at Carnegie Mellon University, the Center conducts research in the preservation methods and materials used for the care of museum collections, particularly paintings, books and paper.
  • Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN)
    Includes the following sections: Museums & Galleries in Canada, Virtual Exhibitions, Artefacts Canada, Reference Tools & Resources, and Heritage Forum.
  • Conservation Online (CoOL)
    CoOL, a project of the Preservation Department of Stanford University Library, is a full text database of conservation information including ethics, disaster planning, education and training opportunities, preservation of electronic media and a wide range of conservation guidelines and publications. Its contents are of interest to those involved with the conservation of library, archives, and museum materials.

  • The Getty Conservation Institute
    A collection of resources from one of the premiere conservation centers.
  • National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT)
    Includes information about the NCPTT's programs; its research, training, and management components; and a searchable Internet Resources Guide. NCPTT is part of the National Park Service.
  • Northeast Documentation Center
    "The Northeast Document Conservation Center is a regional conservation center specializing in the preservation and conservation treatment of paper-based materials including: historic documents, maps, books, scrapbooks, photographs, works of art on paper, and historic wallpaper." This site includes a useful list of Web Resources, Funding Sources, and more.
  • Preserve/Net: The Preservationist's Resource

  • Conserve O Grams
    More than 90 short leaflets focused on specific topics in object conservation and museum techniques and practices. Published by the Museum Management Program of the National Park Service.
  • Philadelphia Art Museum: Conservation
    Includes basic information on conservation issues in a museum setting.
  • The Coloring Info Pages

  • The Iron Gall Ink Corrosion Website
